VALDOSTA, Ga. – Valdosta State head men's golf coach
Jared Purvis announced Wednesday the 2025-26 Blazer golf schedule.
The 2025-26 edition features ten regular season tournaments, along with the Gulf South Conference Championship and the season kicks off with the Griffin Invitational hosted by Saint Leo University at the Country Club of Petersburg, in Petersburg, Va., on Sept. 15-16.
VSU then will return to Albany, Ga., and Doublegate Country Club for the Hurricane Invitational hosted by Georgia Southwestern on Sept. 22-23. The second month of the season opens with the NCAA Preview at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nev., the site of the 2026 NCAA Division II Men's Golf National Championship in May. VSU then will compete in the Copperhead Championship hosted by West Florida on Oct. 13-14 in Palm Harbor, Fla., while the fall slate concludes with the Golfweek Fripp Island to Bermuda at Fripp Island – Ocean Point Golf Clube in Fripp Island, S.C., Oct. 20-21.
The spring season gets underway with the Matlock Classic on Feb. 9-10 at Lone Palm Golf Club in Lakeland, Fla., followed by the 2026 Saint Leo Invitational on Feb. 16-17 in Dade City, Fla. The 34
th Annual First Federal Southeastern Collegiate hosted by Valdosta State is scheduled for Mar. 9-10 at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club.
Following the home tournament, the Blazers head to South Florida for the 2026 Shark Invitational hosted by Nova Southeastern at Grande Oaks CC in Davie, Fla., Mar. 23-24. VSU will return to the Sunshine State for the annual Argonaut Invitational at Pensacola Country Club in Pensacola, Fla., Mar. 30-31 to conclude the regular season.
The 2026 Gulf South Conference Championship moves to Dickson, Tenn., and Grey Stone Golf Club this season on Apr. 20-22, while the NCAA Super Regional location has not been set yet and is scheduled for May 7-9. The NCAA D2 National Championship is scheduled for May 18-22.
Purvis returns six players from the 2024-25 season, including junior
Alexander Nilehn who earned second team all-league honors last season. Purvis added the services of five newcomers including three transfers and two Lowndes County High School products in freshmen
Kaleb Shiver and
Jimmy Cohen. Junior
William Carestam joins from University of Charleston (W.Va.), while junior
Nick Mueller comes from Wisconsin-Eau Claire and
Oscar Toreld comes to VSU from Copiah-Lincoln CC (Miss.). The Blazers have just two seniors on the team in returnees
Joshua Burki and
Elad Sebbag.
