VALDOSTA, Ga. – The No. 1-ranked Valdosta State men's tennis team defeated top-ranked Georgia Gwinnett of National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) 4-0 Monday morning at the VSU Tennis Complex.
The Blazers improved to 5-0 on the year and won for the first time against GGC improving to 1-2 all-time against the Grizzlies. VSU won the doubles point with a 6-2 win by No. 6-ranked duo of seniors

Edgar Destouet won 6-1 at No. 2 doubles to claim the team point.
In singles, five of the six matches went to a decisive third set, but No. 3-ranked senior
Boruch Skierkier gave VSU a 2-0 lead with a 7-5, 7-5 win at No. 2 singles over Aleksandr Kalinin. Destouet won 6-4, 2-6, 6-2 at No. 3 singles for a 3-0 win and the Blazers clinched the match at No. 1 as top-ranked Taco battled back for a 2-6, 6-4, 6-3 win.
The Blazer men's team returns to action on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the VSU Tennis Complex versus Lander.
