Blazer Women’s Soccer Drops 3-0 Decision at UAH

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Three second half goals by The University of Alabama in Huntsville handed visiting Valdosta State a 3-0 loss Sunday afternoon in Gulf South Conference women's soccer.

The Blazers fell to 1-5-4 overall and 0-4-1 in GSC play, while UAH improved to 5-2-2 overall and 3-1-1 in league play.   VSU had three shots for the match and one on goal as all three came in the first half, while UAH had 15 shots and eight on frame, including ten shots in the second half.

VSU freshman Adrienne Cardona-Colon started her second-straight match in goal with five saves and the three goals allowed.  Blazer junior Kaitlyn Scherer had two shots and one on target in the first half, while sophomore Jenni McIntosh also had a shot in the first 45 minutes.

The Chargers opened the scoring with a goal just 2:47 into the second half as Carley White scored the game winner on an assist from Evelina Gustafsson.  While Cardona-Colon continued to hold her own in goal for the Blazers for much of the match, UAH's Sabrina Da Silva scored at the 71:04 mark and then Michella Tortelli scored just 5:34 minutes later for the 3-0 advantage.

VSU returns home to begin a four-match home stand on Friday at 7 p.m. at the VSU Soccer Complex versus Spring Hill College.
