Blazer Men’s Golf Heads to Nevada for NCAA Division II National Preview

VALDOSTA, Ga. – The Valdosta State men's golf team returns to the links Oct. 6-7 as it travels to Boulder City, Nev., for the NCAA Division II National Preview at Boulder Creek Golf Club just outside Las Vegas.  
 
VSU is one of 17 teams competing in the national preview as the 2026 NCAA Division II National Championship will be hosted at Boulder Creek Golf Club, May 18-22, 2026.  Along with VSU, Flagler also is competing in the tournament as is Georgia Southwestern and Lynn.  The rest of the field is comprised of teams from the Midwest and West including; Cal State Dominguez Hills, Cal State East Bay, Cal State San Bernardino, Cal State San Marcos, Chico State, Colorado State-Pueblo, Drury, Fort Lewis, Midwestern State, Missouri S&T, Missouri-St. Louis and Western New Mexico. 
 
There will be live scoring for the tournament.  Click here for live scoring and check back with vstateblazers.com each day for a complete recap.  The format of the tournament will be 36-holes Monday, followed by 18-holes on Tuesday on the par 72, 7,421-yard course.  
 
The Blazers are coming off finishing 13th at the Hurricane Invitational, Sept. 22-23, at Doublegate Country Club in Albany, Ga.  Junior Alexander Nilehn finished tied for 37th with a 224 score to pace the team on rounds of 72, 74 and 78.  Nilehn had a 70.8 scoring average to lead the team this season.  
 
Nilehn earned the top spot in the lineup for this tournament, while junior William Carestam is second in the lineup, followed by junior Adam Waller who is making his first tournament appearance this season.  Senior Joshua Burki is fourth and senior Elad Sebbag is fifth in the lineup for head coach Jared Purvis.
 
Following this tournament, the Blazers return home to prepare for the Copperhead Championship at Palm Harbor, Fla., and Innisbrook-Cooperhead Course, Oct. 13-14 and then will conclude the fall season Oct. 20-21, at the Golfweek Fripp Island to Bermuda, in Fripp Island, S.C.
