BEAUFORT, S.C. – The Valdosta State men's golf team fired a final round 296 to finish the 2025 Fripp Island to Bermuda Invitational with a 54-hole score of 907 (305-306-296). Blazer junior
William Carestam paced the team finishing tied for 14
th with an even par 216 on the par 72, 6,502-yard Fripp Island Ocean Point Golf Course.
Lee University won the 15-team tournament with a staggering final round 15-under 273 to finish at 25-under par with an 839 score. Georgia Southwestern finished second at 7-under 857, followed by Florida Southern (862) for third. Columbus State finished fourth at even par 864, followed by Catawba at 867 to round out the top five.
St. Mary's (Texas) finished sixth (871), followed by North Georgia who fired a final round 280 to move up five spots to finish seventh at 873. Rollins finished eighth at 877, followed by West Florida (879) and Nova Southeastern finished tenth at 883.
Lincoln Memorial finished 11
th (886), followed by USC Beaufort (889), Lenoir-Rhyne (898), Barry (900) and VSU with a 907 score.
Individually, Lee's Drew Zielinski won the tournament with a 9-under 207 as he will be awarded a start in the PGA Tour Butterfield Bermuda Championship set for Nov. 13-16, 2025. Zielinski's teammate Bennett McNabb finished second at 7-under 209, while Florida Southern's Jack VanderSchuur finished third at 5-under 211. Columbus State's Bernard Meyer was fourth at 4-under 212, while there was a tie for fifth between North Georgia's Rhett Smith and Georgia Southwestern's Oscar Hammar at 3-under 213.
Carestam finished tied for 14
th to pace the Blazers finishing at even par on rounds of 72, 74 and 70. Carestam, who tallied a hole-in-one yesterday, had an eagle on Tuesday. Senior
Elad Sebbag fiished tied for 35
th with a 221 score on rounds of 70, 78 and 73, while freshman Valdosta native
Kaleb Shiver finished 71
st with a 235 score in his first collegiate tournament on rounds of 78, 81 and 76. Junior
Alexander Nilehn carded rounds of 85, 75 and 78 to finish 74
th with a 238 score, while junior
Adam Waller finished 75
th with a 241 score on rounds of 85, 79 and 77.
Tuesday finished the fall season for the Blazers as the team returns to action in February, 2026, with the Matlock Collegiate, Feb. 9-10, at Lone Palm Golf Course in Lakeland, Fla.
