VALDOSTA, Ga.- The Valdosta State Red Hots attended the National Dance Alliance camp this past weekend in Myrtle Beach, S.C., in preparation for the 2024-25 season as well as to qualify for a bid to College Nationals in April of 2025.
 
The Red Hots competed in a D2 gameday run-off competition, in which the team took home the gold while also earning first place in the team dance competition. Over the course of the weekend, the Red Hots were voted Most Spirited and Most Collegiate team by all the teams attending camp while also claiming the title of Best All Around, earning the most overall points at camp.
 
In addition to winning the competitions, the Red Hots also earned a Gold Paid Bid to the NDA College Nationals April in Daytona Beach, Fla., to contend for their ninth National Championship.
 
The team also had the honor of naming four All-Americans including seniors Mylin Harris, Caroline Schenck and Maria Tsesmelis as well as sophomore Kassidy Hernandez.
 
"Winning Best All Around two years in a row, and winning Most Collegiate for the first time ever, is a great start to our season, " Head Coach Kelli Fields said. " It helps set us up for a great position to compete at NDA College Nationals in April."
 
The Red Hots attended camp alongside a mix of NCAA D1 and D2 schools, including Clemson, University of South Florida, James Madison University, NC State, East Carolina, Elon University, UNC-Charlotte and Bowie State.
 
"I am beyond proud of what this team accomplished this past weekend at camp. To be one of the smallest teams at this camp, competing with larger Division 1 teams, and winning these awards is a testament to the strength of our program," Fields said.
