BOCA RATON, Fla. – Following the thrilling 4-3 victory at No. 2 Barry on Saturday, the top-ranked Valdosta State men's tennis team had a quick turnaround as it traveled to No. 22 Lynn Sunday morning. Starting at 10 a.m., Sunday morning, the Blazers won 4-1 over the Fighting Knights to improve to 4-0 on the year, while Lynn fell to 1-1.
The Blazers made quick work of the singles point as junior

Jan Skerbatis won at No. 3, 6-0 and top duo of senior

Rodrigo Carvalho won 6-1 to clinch the point. Junior
Takeshi Taco and freshman
Jerome Iaconi, at No. 2 doubles, held a 4-3 lead when the point was clinched.
Heading to singles, Mak won 6-2, 6-2 over J. Olive-Blanco at the top spot for a 2-0 lead, while Gabriele Felline of Lynn, brother of former Blazer
Christian Felline, won 6-3, 7-6 (7-4) over Carvalho at No. 2, for a 2-1 VSU lead. Taco, ranked No. 4 nationally, downed Gianmarco Amatiste 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 at No. 3 for a 3-1 lead and Skierkier, ranked No. 16 nationally, won 6-0, 6-0 over Haktan Garayev to clinch the match.
The Blazers return home to prepare for the ITA Nationals in Indianapolis, Ind., Feb. 16-18, where they will battle No. 4 Flagler in the quarterfinal round. The ITA Nationals is for the eight final teams from last year's national championship as VSU is the No. 2-seed and Flagler is the No. 7-seed for next weekend.
