HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Valdosta State cross country team concluded their 2024 season at the NCAA DII South Region XC Championship hosted by Alabama Huntsville. As a team, the women finished 13
th while the men placed 18
th.
For the women, it was Senior
Katie LaCroix placing 46
th in the 6k with a time of 23:53.4. Fellow senior
Caitlyn Koske was the next Blazer to finish as she placed 57
th as she clocked a time of 24:11.6. Right behind her was
Sarah Simpson, who placed 58
th with a 6k PR time of 24:14.5. As a team, Lee took home the victory with 18 points, as they had five of the top eight runners in the race including the top three.
On the men's side, freshman
Nick Waddell continued to be the star for VSU, as he placed a team best 77
th with a 10k time of 34:37.4, setting his PR time. Graduate student
Elijah Pace also set his 10k PR with a time of 35:56.0 while placing 103
rd. Trailing closely behind him was
Caleb Tilford and
Austen Sekowski, as the duo finished 106
th and 107
th while setting PRs of 36:10.4 and 36:12.1, respectively. It was also Lee taking home the crown for the men with 39 points, as they had five of the top 15 runners for the morning.
