HUNTSVILLE, Ala.- The Valdosta State volleyball team fell in its second game of an extended Alabama road trip at Alabama Huntsville on Friday evening, 3-1. Valdosta State now sits at 7-6 on the season with a 1-2 record in Gulf South Conference play while Alabama Huntsville improved to 14-1 on the year with a perfect 5-0 mark in league play.

First Set:
The Blazers and Chargers kicked off the opening set by trading blows back and forth until the match was all even at 10-10. Huntsville then started to pull ahead on a 5-2 run, going up 15-12. UAH continued to hold the lead down the stretch, going up by as much as four. 19-15. Despite a fighting effort from the Blazers, the Chargers remained relentless, finishing off the frame on a 6-5 run, taking the first set, 25-20.

Second Set:
At the start of the second set, VSU squeaked out to a narrow 4-3 lead following a kill from senior
Mackenzie Murray. Huntsville struck back with a 4-1 run to go up by three in a flash, 8-5. UAH continued to run up the score, going up by four at 11-7 before the Blazers stormed back on a 5-0 run to snatch back the lead 12-11. Down the stretch, VSU and UAH traded the lead back and forth until the frame was all knotted up at 20-20. From there, Valdosta State went on a 3-0 run capped off by a kill from senior
Jojo Smith to give the Blazers the 23-20 edge. With the set in the balance, UAH brought the match within one at 24-23 before junior
Ava Young "called game" on a decisive kill to give the Blazers set two, 25-23.

Third Set:
The Chargers came out of the gate hot to start the third set, racing out to a 12-4 lead in the blink of an eye. A kill from junior
Katie Callenberger brought the set back within seven at 13-6 before Alabama Huntsville continued to roll, building up a 10-point lead at 18-8 following a UAH kill. The Chargers capped off their tremendous set on a 7-4 run to take the third set, 25-12

Fourth Set:
Valdosta State and Alabama Huntsville battled early with the set being tied up at 2-2 before the Chargers pulled away on a 7-0 run to take a 9-2 lead. The Blazers managed to bring the set back to six at 10-4 following a UAH service error. VSU continued to battle, delivering three-straight kills from junior
Sabrina Oncins and Smith to come within five of the UAH lead, 13-8. Later, a 3-0 mini-run brought the Blazers back within three, 14-11 prompting a UAH timeout. Despite a valiant effort from VSU, Alabama Huntsville began to pull away before closing the set out on an 11-8 run, 25-19.
