ROME, Ga. – Valdosta State men's tennis seniors
Boruch Skierkier and
Takeshi Taco won both of their singles matches Friday morning to advance to the semifinals of the 2024 ITA Cup on the campus of Berry College.
In singles, Taco, who is the top-seed in the tournament, dropped the first set to Charleston's (W.Va.) Jorge Perez, 6-4, Friday morning, but responded nicely with a 6-2, 6-3 wins in the second and third set to advance. Taco will face Harding's Cas de Ruiter on Saturday at 9 a.m., for a spot in the finals.
Skierkier, seeded third, made quick work of Flagler's Aniss Rafiq, 6-0, 6-4 and will face Ouachita Baptist's Phil Exner on Saturday also at 9 a.m. Should both advance, they would meet again in the final on Sunday as they did a week ago in the ITA South Regional in Lakeland, Fla.
Taco and senior

Should Taco/Van Wijk advance, they would face Saint Leo doubles tandem of Luis Iriarte and Eduardo Cohen on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
