MONTEVALLO, Fla.- The Valdosta State volleyball team fell to Alabama Huntsville on Saturday, 3-1 (19-25, 25-16, 20-25, 22-25), closing out a two-game weekend road trip.
With the loss, the Blazers fell to 11-6 overall and 3-2 in Gulf South Conference play while UAH improved to 8-4 overall with a 4-1 mark in the GSC.

First Set:
In the first set of the match, the Chargers rushed out to a seven-point lead to kick things off at 13-6. The Blazers responded with a 4-1 rally to bring things a little closer at 14-10, but UAH struck back with a 5-0 run to take their biggest lead of the set, 19-10. However, VSU battled back, outscoring the Chargers 7-3 to bring the game within five, 22-17. UAH then pulled away on a 3-2 run to win the first set 25-19.
Second Set:
The Blazers responded swiftly in the second set, racing out to an 11-4 lead out of the gate. However, the Chargers responded quickly with a 5-0 run to cut the VSU lead to two, 11-9. With the Chargers clawing at their heels, the Blazers pulled away, outscoring UAH 11-4 down the stretch to build their lead, 22-13. VSU and UAH each scored three more as the Blazers took the second match, 25-16. Valdosta State hit an impressive .346 for the set with 10 kills and only one attack error while UAH recorded 13 kills and nine mishaps for .098 percent.
Third Set:
Valdosta State looked to pick up where it left off in the second set, speeding out to a 10-5 lead early fallowing a kill from junior
Mackenzie Murray. However, the Chargers fought back, rallying for a 4-1 run to cut into the VSU lead, 11-9. The Blazers continued to stay in front until UAH tied things up at 14-14. VSU went on to take a narrow 18-15 lead, but the Chargers stormed back on a massive 9-1 run to take a sizeable lead, 24-19. The Blazers scored one more point before UAH closed out the set on a kill, 25-20.
Fourth Set:
With the Blazers facing match point, UAH and VSU traded blows to open the match until graduate student
Mallory Roney delivered a kill to give VSU a narrow 8-7 lead. The Chargers went on to score five -straight, but the Blazers answered right back with a five-piece run of their own to maintain their one-point lead, 13-12. UAH stormed right back on a 6-2 rally to take a three-point lead over Valdosta State, 18-15. The Blazers continued to fight back, but the Chargers remained one step ahead of them down the stretch until a kill from junior
Jojo Smith and a service ace from Roney brought the game within one, 23-22. However, the Chargers closed things out on two consecutive points to win set four, 25-22.
