Blazer Women’s Soccer Blanks Georgia Southwestern, 2-0

AMERICUS, Ga. – Behind the fourth goal of the season from senior Ana Moleka and the first career goal for sophomore Katherine Kimmel, the Valdosta State women's soccer team posted a 2-0 victory at Georgia Southwestern Saturday evening.  
 
VSU improved to 1-0-1 on the year, while GSW fell to 1-1.  The Blazers return home to open the 2023 home slate on Wednesday, Sept. 6 at 6 p.m. versus No. 10 Embry-Riddle.  ERAU blanked West Georgia (1-0) and won at No. 3 Columbus State 2-0 this weekend.  
 
Moleka, who registered her first career hat trick on Thursday at Clayton State, scored just 12 minutes into the contest on Saturday with junior Ansley Decenzo recording her third assist of the season and a 1-0 lead.  The score remained 1-0 at intermission as VSU out-shot the Golden Hurricanes 9-3 for the first half.  
 
VSU kept the pressure on in the second half as Kimmel scored at the 60:05 mark for the insurance goal.  The Blazers would go on to have three more chances the rest of the contest, while GSW had two shots.
 
Blazer goalkeeper junior Emma Pruett pitched the shutout and didn't record a save in the match, going all 90 minutes.  VSU finished the match with 18 shots and nine on frame, while GSW had five shots with none on target, while goalkeeper Alana Beddow had two goals allowed and seven saves. 
 
For the week, Moleka had four goals, five shots, four on target, a hat trick and one game winner in 115 minutes of action.  Pruett went 1-0-1 for the week with one shutout, faced 11 shots with one goal allowed, two saves and a 0.67 GAA in 135 minutes.
