VALDOSTA, Ga. – No. 15 West Florida plated three runs in the top of the fourth and two in the seventh for an 8-5 victory over the No. 17 Valdosta State baseball team Sunday. The game was halted Saturday afternoon due to lightning and was picked up Sunday morning.
VSU finished Gulf South Conference play 18-12 this season, while it is 30-15 overall. The Blazers are the No. 4-seed in the upcoming Gulf South Conference Championship, scheduled to begin Friday at Choccoloco Park in Oxford, Ala. With the sweep of the Blazers by the Argos, UWF wins the outright conference regular season crown. The Blazers will face No. 5-seed West Georgia on Friday at 5 p.m. ET

After a three-up-three-down first inning, VSU used a leadoff walk and a single from graduate student

Orlando Adams turned on a pitch for a two-run home run to left field and a 3-0 lead. It was his first round-tripper of the season.
With two out and a 2-2 count, Josh Prizina went deep for a three-run shot to tie the game in the top of the second. VSU loaded the bases in the bottom of the third with nobody out with a single, a walk and a hit batsmen. UWF came up with a great defensive play on a double play on a potential sacrifice fly, but Harper then singled home Cristomo-Bock for a 4-3 lead. Gandy then singled to short left field for an RBI and a 5-3 lead.

Kevin Tomas to begin the resumed game Sunday. A sacrifice fly made the sore 5-4 and then Dean Holtz doubled to left plating two runs.
The Argos brought in Salvatore Ferro to pitch the bottom of the fourth and he retired six-straight until sophomore
Trent Lewis singled with two out in the bottom of the sixth. VSU was unable to score and Prizina singled to center, plating two runs in the top of the seventh for the 8-5 margin.
