Blazer Golf Finishes Tied for Ninth at The Griffin Invitational

BROOKSVILLE, Fla. – The Valdosta State men's golf team carded a final round 297 to finish tied for ninth at The Griffin Invitational Tuesday on the par 72, 7,557-yard Southern Hills Golf Club course.  West Florida won the 13-team tournament with a 16-under 848 score for 54-holes.
 
VSU finished the tournament with rounds of 299, 301 and 297 for the top ten finish.  Individually, senior Ryan Pollman tied for 33rd with a 223 score on rounds of 74, 73 and 76, while senior Chase Weathers tied for 39th with sophomore teammate Gage Winkler each with a 224 score.  Freshman Joshua Buerki tied for 51st with a 227 score (77,77,73), while freshman Ty Folsom tied for 61st with a 231 score (76,78,77).  Playing as an individual, sophomore Brandon Cho finished 68th with a 235 score on rounds of 78, 78 and 79.  
 
Following West Florida in the team standings was Barry with an 854 score for second.  Barry's AJ Ewart won the tournament with an 11-under 205, while teammate Nicolas Quintero finished fifth at 5-under 211.  UWF's Elias Haavisto and Felipe Garces Garzon tied for second at 6-under 210.  Nova Southeastern finished third (860), followed by Lynn (867) and Tampa was fifth at 877.  
 
Host Saint Leo finished sixth with an 880 score, followed by Palm Beach Atlanta (896), while VSU and Rollins each carded 54-hole scores of 897 for a tie for ninth.  Fayetteville State (N.C.) finished 11th at 910, while Eckerd was 12th at 950 and Wilmington (Del.) finished 13th at 956.
