VALDOSTA, Ga. – The Valdosta State women's soccer team posted 14 shots with eight on target, but came up on the short end of a 2-0 decision to Montevallo Friday evening at the VSU Soccer Complex.
The Blazers were led by four shots and three on target from senior
Bailey Hern who was named the Guardian Bank Blazer Player of the Match. VSU had five corner kicks and sophomore goalkeeper
Emma Pruett had two saves.
In a very chippy match with a total of six yellow cards, including five on the visiting Falcons, the match had a total of 25 fouls between the two teams and 17 on Montevallo. UM (12-2-2, 8-2-2 GSC) scored its first goal off a free kick in the first half for a 1-0 lead at intermission. Then in the 88
th minute, scored on an own goal for a 2-0 advantage. The Falcons had seven shots and three on frame for the match. UM goalkeeper Emily Hounsell had eight saves in the contest.
VSU (3-11-1, 2-10 GSC) was the aggressor for much of the match and had a number of good looks in the first half, but at the 20:23 mark, following a foul, Montevallo's Avery Campbell served a shot off the free kick to Kaeri Ward who headed it past Pruett for a 1-0 lead

Molly Wooldridge had two great looks in the match, one in each half, and both sailed just high, while Hern had three shots and two on target in the first half.
The Blazers close out the season Sunday at 1 p.m. for Senior Day as the team will honor eight seniors playing in their final match in a Blazer uniform at 12:45 before the match with Auburn Montgomery. Hern,
