MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Valdosta State women's soccer team fell to the Georgia College Bobcats 3-0 Friday afternoon marking the Blazers'  first loss of the 2021 season and moved to 2-1 overall.
 
Kyleigh Reedy created one of the first chances for the Blazers in the 17th minute with a ball just off frame. Reedy finished the match with two shots.
 
The Blazers recorded only four shots before Georgia College's first goal. Cassie Balzano recorded the first goal for the Bobcats in the 28th minute. The Bobcats outshot the Blazers 11-2 with nine minutes left to play. To end the first half, VSU only recorded four shots on goal, marking the lowest number of shots this season for VSU. 
 
Junior midfielder Lyana Steele received a yellow card in the 57th minute off a strong tackle against Georgia College. Molly Wooldridge, Hannah Schroeder, Barbara Kiger, Mallory Johnson, Ansley Decenzo and Reedy all put up shots against Georgia College but couldn't capitalize on the chances created. 
 
The Bobcat's scoring continued in the 59th minute with another goal from Balzano. To round out the scoring for Georgia College, Becca Morris scored from a set piece to bring the final score to 3-0. The Bobcats move to 3-0 on the season. 
 
 
The Blazers will return home Sunday to take on North Georgia. The match against the Nighthawks marks the first home match of the 2021 fall season and will begin a four-game homestead for the Blazers. VSU will take on Embry-Riddle on September 17, West Florida on September 24, and round out the series of home matches with Spring Hill College on September 26.
