VALDOSTA, Ga. – The No. 19 Valdosta State men's tennis team posted a 5-2 win over Gulf South Conference member Lee University Saturday morning. The Blazers improved to 6-3 on the year and 3-0 in GSC play, while Lee fell to 3-5 and 1-3 in conference play.
VSU won the doubles point in convincing fashion as freshmen duo of

Edward Etty made quick work of Jesus Garcia and Cristian Pons at No. 2, 6-1. No. 8-ranked senior

Florian Simbozel won at No. 1 over No. 20 Bruno Medeiros and Antonio Pons, 6-0, in the only ranked matchup of the day. Sophomore
Robert Cizek and junior
Adam Kalivoda won at No. 3 over Nico Ramirez and Drew Johnston, 7-5.
Heading into singles action, Kalivoda put VSU up 2-0 with a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 6 over Johnston. Mack gave VSU a 3-0 lead with a 6-2, 6-2 win over C. Pons at No. 3, while the Blazers clinched the match as Simbozel won at No. 2, 6-2, 6-3 over Ramirez. Medeiros downed Etty at No. 4, 3-6, 6-0, 6-3, while Cizek won at No. 5 over A. Pons, 6-2, 7-5 and Garcia upset Nguyen, who entered ranked No. 7 nationally, 4-6, 6-4 and then 10-4 in the super tiebreaker.
The Blazers return to action on Sunday as they travel to Orlando at the USTA Training Center for a matchup with top-ranked Barry, who is 5-1 on the year, at 12 p.m.
