sLIVINGSTON, Ala. – A goal by West Alabama's Paige Laidler in the 83
rd minute handed visiting Valdosta State a 1-0 loss Friday evening. VSU fell to 3-4 on the year and 1-2 in Gulf South Conference play.
West Alabama (4-3, 2-1 GSC) held an 11-1 lead in shots for the match, but VSU junior goalkeeper
Caroline Embler had five stops in the first half to preserve the 0-0 score at intermission as UWA outshot VSU 8-0 in the first half.
VSU had its lone shot on goal in the second half from sophomore

th minute of the contest, but UWA goalkeeper Jenni Aarniva was up to the task for the save.
The Tigers had a shot from TeMia Pride that sailed wide left at the 81:08 mark and then Laidler came back with the goal at the 82:56 mark on an assist from Abigail Clanton for a 1-0 lead. VSU was unable to get a shot the rest of the match.
Embler had the five saves in 90 minutes, taking the loss, while Aarniva had the one save in the contest. The Blazers had one corner kick, while UWA committed ten fouls to VSU's three fouls. Pride and Anele Komani each had three shots, while Komani had two on frame and Laidler converted her one opportunity.
