Blazer Baseball Suffers 10-0 Loss to Mississippi College

VALDOSTA, Ga. - Despite a plethora of well-hit balls, Valdosta State baseball's offense was held hitless for the first time in program history throughout an eight inning, 10-0 loss to the Mississippi College Choctaws on Sunday in Valdosta, Ga.

Freshman Zack Ingram's only mistakes of the day for MC were a walk issued to Elias Macias and a pair of hit batsmen. In contrast, Valdosta State sent five pitchers to the mound, who collectively allowed 15 hits and 10 runs to the Choctaws.

The Choctaws gave themselves plenty of cushion early, as they scored six runs on eight hits in the top half of the first inning. The early surge featured seven singles and just one extra base hit, a double by Kyle Smith for the first hit of the inning. The surge would be more than enough for Ingram, who landed his second win of the season with the performance to improve to 2-4.

The loss dropped VSU to 21-13 overall and 11-10 in conference play, while the Choctaws lifted their overall record to 13-18 overall and 10-10 against league opponents.

Valdosta State now turns their attention to Flagler, which the Blazers will face in a non-conference matchup on Wednesday at 5:00pm in St. Augustine, Fla. Coverage of the matchup will be provided at www.vstateblazers.com.
