CLINTON, Miss. – The Valdosta State soccer team traveled to Clinton, Miss. on Friday, where they fell 3-0 to the Lady Choctaws of Mississippi College in a Gulf South Conference matchup.
Alyssa Curtis racked up 12 saves for Valdosta State in the contest, but the Lady Choctaws ripped off three scores in an eight minute window during the first half to open up a lead that the Blazers were unable to overcome.
Lauren Smith delivered two of MC's three goals in eight shot attempts, while Emma Claire Furman added an additional goal to round out the scoring during the first half.
The Valdosta State defense regrouped in the second half, but the Blazers were unable to fashion a consistent attack against the Lady Choctaws.
The resulting loss dropped the Blazers to 0-9-2 overall and 0-5-1 in Gulf South Conference Play. Mississippi College improved to 8-2-1, 5-0-1 in league action.
The Blazers return to action on Sunday afternoon in Cleveland, Miss. for a 2:00 p.m. match against Delta State.
