Jeremiah Hill to Compete in Division II All-Star Game

VALDOSTA, Ga. - Blazer basketball senior Jeremiah Hill has been invited to compete alongside some of the top players in the country in the 2017 Reese's® Division II College All-Star game, as announced by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) on Monday. The event will be played as part of the 2017 NCAA® Division II Men's Basketball Championship.  Reese's brand is the official candy partner of the NCAA.

The Reese's Division II College All-Star game will be played on Friday, March 24, at 8:00 p.m. (EST), in conjunction with the NCAA Division II Elite Eight at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D.  The teams are composed of two senior student-athletes from each of the eight regions in Division II and five senior at-large selections. The game will be streamed live on the Sanford Pentagon Facebook page.

Hill will join Alabama Huntsville's Seab Webster, Delta State's Devin Schmidt, and Shorter's Phil Taylor as representatives of the Gulf South Conference in the event. The invitation for Hill came following a season in which the standout guard joined the 1,000 point club at Valdosta State and earned All-GSC, All-South Region, and Gulf South Conference Player of the Year honors. The Savannah, Ga. native finished his senior campaign as one of the top five scorers in the conference with an average of 19.6 points per game.

The game will feature a pair of outstanding former coaches who have had distinguished careers in coaching and athletic administration.  Bill Gross spent 35 years at his alma mater, Augustana University.  He coached the men's basketball team for nine seasons, posting a 154-103 record, winning the North Central Conference (NCC) title in 1988-89.  During 28 years as the Vikings' director of athletics, Gross helped his programs win 40 conference championships, including 17 in the NCC and 23 as members of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.

Butch Raymond has had a legendary career in the NCC and Northern Sun conferences. He began his coaching career at his alma mater, Augsburg College, before moving on to St. Cloud State. He had significant success at St. Cloud and led his teams to consecutive NCC titles in 1986, 1987 and 1988. Raymond also served at Southwest Minnesota State as director of athletics before being named as the fourth commissioner of the NSIC in 2004. He guided the conference expansion from an eight-team league to a 16-team super conference in NCAA Division II. Raymond retired in 2014.
