VALDOSTA, Ga. - The hits kept coming for Lady Blazer basketball on Tuesday, as Kenya Samone' Dixon was announced as an All-South Region honoree.
On the heels of an incredible season during which Samone' Dixon earned first team All-GSC honors and a position among the All-Gulf South Conference Tournament honorees during VSU's impressive GSC Championship Title run, the junior made her way onto the All-Region list as a member of the 2017 second team.
Samone' Dixon, a forward out of Baton Rouge, La., led the GSC in three-point field goal percentage during the 2017 season at 41.7 percent (78-of-187), and she also ranked among the league's top ten in both scoring (14.9 ppg / 8th) and rebounding (8.6 rpg / 7th). In addition, she shot 39.7 percent from the field and 78.6 percent from the free throw line. Her aforementioned three-point field goal percentage also placed her 17th in the nation among all women's basketball players at the NCAA DII level.
The All-Region awards are sponsored by the D2CCA and are voted on by sports information directors throughout the three conferences (GSC, SSC, SIAC) that make up the south region.
