Eight Blazers Receive USA College Football All-America Honors

VALDOSTA, Ga. - Six Valdosta State football players were announced as 2015 USA College Football Division II All-American honorees, and two additional players were named 2015 Rookie All-Americans, as announced by USA College Football Network, Inc. on Friday.

Cedric O'Neal earned first team recognition following his fourth straight season as an All-GSC running back. The recognition for O'Neal came on the heels of a season in which the Dublin, Ga. native led the Gulf South Conference with 17 rushing touchdowns and set new school records for rushing touchdowns and rushing yardage in a career. Valdosta State added to their strong representation in the release with the addition of wide receiver Greg Dent and Kenny Murphy to the list of first team honorees.

Also representing the Black Swarm, juniors
Kenny Moore and Sharmaine Washington were announced as members of the second team. Moore finished the season with three interceptions on the year, two of which resulted in touchdown returns, while Washington finished his junior campaign among the GSC's top five defenders with 94 total tackles on the year. In addition, GSC Freshman Defender of the Year, Malcolm McClenton earned DII Rookie All-American status.

Rounding out the list for Valdosta State were two offensive linemen, Jack Bradley and David May. Bradley, who took on a leadership role for the Blazer offensive line during his 2015 senior season, earned second team honors. Meanwhile, freshman center May joined McClenton as another DII Rookie All-American.

"I'm very happy for Jack, David, and the rest of the offensive line," stated Assistant Coach and Offensive Line Coach Jeremy Darveau after learning of the recognition bestowed upon his linemen this week. "This is a great honor for the five guys that make up our offensive line, and it shows how well they have played together all year."
