Valdosta State University Athletics

One of the original Valdosta State fans, Red began attending and cheering for the Valdosta State basketball team during the 1955-56 season, just the second year that the school sponsored an intercollegiate team. His love for the VSC hoops squad was turned into a job during the mid-1960’s as he became the public address announcer for home basketball games, a position he held for more than a decade. Now in his 80’s, our second inductee still attends every home basketball game today and his bellowing voice can be heard supporting the VSU basketball squads.
