A multi-talented baseball player who starred at Valdosta State from 1998 through 2001, Jason batted .344 during his career while also winning nine games, against just three losses with seven saves in 40 career appearances on the mound. He registered 220 hits while scoring 142 runs and driving in 136. He counted 44 doubles, six triples and 22 home runs among his hits and owned a .535 career slugging percentage and a .413 on-base percentage during his four years. As a pitcher, he threw 69.1 innings and allowed just 19 earned runs, an earned run average of 2.47 over the course of his career. He struck out 86 batters and was selected in the first round of the 2001 Major League Baseball draft by the Arizona Diamondbacks, one of only four players in the history of the Gulf South Conference to be selected in the first round of the draft.
