GSC East Champions: 2008
2008 Final Four Appearance

Football pic 1The Valdosta State women's tennis team had a spectacular 2008 season, making it all the way to the Final Four of the 2008 NCAA Division II Women's Tennis Championship. The Lady Blazers were selected to host the Regional Tournament where they defeated North Alabama to advance to the Sweet Sixteen in Houston, Texas. There, the team beat Slippery Rock and Hawaii Pacific before falling to Lynn in the semifinals. This marks the second time in VSU history that the women have made it to the Final Four.

Along the way, the women's tennis team also won the 2008 Gulf South Conference Championship, defeating West Florida 5-4. Head Coach John Hansen was named the Coach-of-the-Year while three players were named to the All-GSC Team: Dominique Rothlaender, Raphaelle Durante and Natali Gumbrecht.
