A Time to Catch Our Breath

Well the new year has started and it has kind of been a whirlwind of a first month. As most people know, we played the first NCAA football game in the nation this year and that made the entire preseason, from practice to the staff’s preparation for the new year, rushed. Obviously, the football team passed their test and then did well in beating Newberry so the short camp didn’t faze them a bit. As far as the staff goes, we are just about caught up.

Of course the biggest news today is the postponement of the Southern Arkansas game due to Hurricane Ike. It seems like we are destined to have games affected by bad weather this year when you consider the Fort Valley State game. In fact, it goes back to last year as we fought snow in the national semifinals before winning the national championship in a down pour. Of course since we have won all of those games in bad weather, maybe people will quit saying the spread offense doesn’t work in the rain.

After talking about it, we fill the Blazer Blog has been vastly under-used during its first year so be on the look out for more posts this year. The plan is to have a new post each week. Some of the posts will come from staff, such as myself, while others will come from the student-athletes. We hope it will provide fans a better understanding of what our athletic department and student-athletes go through during a typical year.

Thanks for reading and we’ll see you at the game…

  1. Ms. Dez Says:

What happened to Blake Field? I have followed Auburn football for years and knew that he transferred to Valdosta State but I don’t see him listed on the roster or any stats on him. Can you give me any information on him?
