Lady Blazers' Season Long Campaign "Shoot for a Cure"
Women's basketball to help raise funds for breast cancer awareness
VALDOSTA, Ga.- Coach Kiley Hill and the Valdosta State University women's basketball team join forces to help raise funds for breast cancer patient services, education and research. The season long campaign is called "Shoot for a Cure"!
In the past two seasons, the hot shooting of the Lady Blazers has helped rais $6,000, including $3,300 last year alone.
You can join the players and coaches as they fight breast cancer with the "Shoot for a Cure" campaign. All you have to do is fill out a brochure and specify a specific dollar amount for every three-point shot that the Lady Blazers make during the regular season. Then, sit back and watch the action!
By showing your support, you'll give Coach Hill and the Lady Blazers something to shoot for as they help the Partnership Cancer Fund of Lowndes County put a full-court press on Breast Cancer.
The Partnership Cancer Fund of Lowndes County assists with patient services and has been in existence since 2004. Funds raised are used to help cover patients' transportation costs for medical care, nutritional supplements, medications and certain types of medical equipment. "Shoot for a Cure" is teaming with the Partnership Cancer Fund to bring awareness to this ever growing need in Lowndes County.
Prior to the campaign, the women's basketball team met with an oncologist and brought in local breast cancer survivors to educate and inform the team, allowing them to educate and inform others.
Throughout the season, T-shirts will be given to every $10.00 donation gift/pledge and thrown out into the stands for every three-pointer made at all home games for women's basketball. Also, the Lady Blazers will honor and remember those who have been diagnosed with breast cancer by wearing a Pink Ribbon symbol on their jerseys.
