Lady Blazers Notch Second in a Row

Valdosta State Beats Alabama-Huntsville, 3-1

VALDOSTA, Ga. - Valdosta State put together its second consecutive Gulf South victory with a 3-1 win over Alabama-Huntsville Saturday. The Lady Blazers move to 13-10 on the season and 4-4 in the Gulf South with the 25-8, 25-21, 25-27, 25-20, win. Alabama-Huntsville drops to 7-24 and 1-6.

The Lady Blazers again displayed great defense. Irene Hannan had 24 digs while Ruthie King had 14 and Katie Onushko had 11. Three others had seven or more.

Hannan also had 13 kills and King had 10 while Emelia Saulter passed out 44 assists. Tania Tauiliili notched 11 kills with a .526 attacking percentage.

For UAH, Allison Cousins and Kelsey Williams led the way with eight kills each. Kelly Wilson passed out 31 assists. Four Chargers had double-digit digs with Williams leading the way with 16.

Valdosta State will look to continue the team%u2019s winning streak at Albany State at 6 p.m. Thursday.
