Argos Too Much for Lady Blazers

Lady Blazers Fall to West Florida, 3-0

PENSACOLA, Fla. - Valdosta State fell to #24 West Florida Friday night. After keeping it close in the first game, the Lady Blazers could not overcome West Florida in the 3-0 sweep, 25-22, 25-14, 25-19. With the loss, Valdosta State moves to 10-6 on the season while West Florida is 12-8. The Argonauts move to 3-1 in the Gulf South and Valdosta State is 2-2.

Junior leaders Irene Hannan and Ruthie King had near identical lines with eight kills and digs each. Hannan added thre blocks while Tania Tauiliili notched four. Katie Onushko was second in kills with six and added seven digs. Tauiliili and Arielle Parnell each contributed five kills on the night.

Chelsea Luttfring was the best defensive player for the Lady Blazers on the night with 10 digs to lead the team. Emelia Saulter gave out 27 assists.

Chelsea Wilhoite led West Florida in kills with 12. Patricia Gandolfo contributed 10. Maddie Staub led the team in digs with seven, and there were three others with five. Tricia Tirabassi was one of them, but she also added 31 assists.

The Lady Blazers will look to bounce back at West Alabama Saturday at noon.
