Blazers Lead at Flagler Invitational

Four Blazers in Top 15

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - Valdosta State followed a first round 293 ( 5) with an eight-over 296 in the second round to grab a three-stroke lead after the first day of play at the Flagler Invitational, being held at the par-72, 7,201-yard Palencia Golf Club Monday.

Chelsey Gunn paced the Blazers as he fired 71-73 on the day to stand in third overall with an even-par 144. Will Repko also stood in the Top 10 as he finished the day at three-over 147 (74-73) to tie for ninth through the first two rounds. Chad Smith (73-76) and Evan Hanna (73-75) were a stroke behind and tied for 14th while Wade Holland tied for a 32nd with a nine-over 153 (74-79).

Tampa's Chris Shane led the event with a two-under 142, followed by Flagler's Chris Bay at 143 (-1).

Host Flagler shot a 16-over 592 to stand second behind Valdosta State while SCAD was third at 597 (21-over). USC-Beaufort (598) and Tampa (606) rounded out the top five.

The tournament concludes with a single round of play on Tuesday beginning at 8:00 a.m.
