ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - Valdosta State's winning streak came to an end Wednesday night against Flagler. The Lady Blazers fell to 8-3 with a four-game loss to the Saints. Flagler won, 25-10, 23-25, 25-18, 25-19.
In a hotly contested match Valdosta State took the second game after dropping the first. The third and fourth sets were close, but VSU couldn't come out on top.
No Lady Blazer notched double-digit kills. The most kills the team put up came in the second game when the Lady Blazers struck 10. Irene Hannan led the team with seven and Ruthie King and Arielle Parnell both hit for six. Emelia Saulter passed out 20 assists while Hannan had nine digs.
Katie Beale led the Saints with 16 kills and Meg Weathersby and Justine Burkhardt both had 11. Olivia Snipes passed for 27 assists while Beale and Burkhardt had 12 and 11 digs respectively.
The Lady Blazers will look to bounce back against West Georgia on September 25 in the P.E. Complex.
