VALDOSTA, Ga. - Valdosta State, led by Irene Hannan's 20 kills, beat Albany State in four games, 23-25, 25-12, 25-21, 25-15. After dropping the first game, the Lady Blazers rebounded to win three straight to move to 8-2 on the season.
Valdosta State attacked for a percentage above .300 in the last three frames and a .389 in the final frame. Hannan hit for a percentage of .447 on her way to 20 kills and also notched 14 digs. Leading the team in digs, however, was Ruthie King with 18 and 14 kills. Tania Tauiliili and Arielle Parnell both had nine kills while Katie Onushko finished with eight.
King led a foursome of her, Hannan, Emelia Saulter, and Chelsea Luttfring of double-digit diggers. Saulter had 10 while Luttfring dug up 12. Saulter also passed out 57 assists in the match.
The Lady Blazer defense held Albany State to just .131 attacking percentage, but Latrice Lewis hit for 19 kills. No other Golden Ram reached double digits.
Valdosta State will next be in action against Flagler in St. Augustine, Fla., on Wednesday.
