Valdosta State Caps Labor Day Weekend with Another Win
FORT VALLEY, Ga. - Valdosta State swept Fort Valley State Monday to cap a 4-1 Labor Day weekend for the team. With the 3-0 sweep of the Wildcats, VSU moves to 7-2 on the season.
After playing in the Montevallo Classic over the weekend, Valdosta State stopped in Fort Valley, Ga. for one more match. A balanced attack from VSU led to a 25-8, 25-10, 25-14 victory.
Five players finished with five kills or more with the most coming from junior captain Ruthie King. She finished with eight kills and eight digs. Emelia Saulter gave 27 assists, and Chelsea Luttfring led the team in digs with 14.
Valdosta State's defense allowed a mere -.169 attacking percentage for Fort Valley State.
The Lady Blazers will play next against Albany State at 6 p.m. on Friday in the P.E. Complex for the team's home opener.
