Lady Blazers lose, 3-0, to end season in Huntsville
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - Alabama-Huntsville shut out Valdosta State for the second consecutive game Saturday to win, 3-0. The only shutouts of VSU's season came this weekend in Huntsville as the Chargers proved to be too much for an outstanding Lady Blazer squad.
After losing, 2-0, Friday, VSU had to take two games from UAH Saturday. They couldn't muster one. In the third inning, Huntsville's Erin Duke hit a solo homer for the early Charger lead. In the sixth, Alabama-Huntsville expanded it with two more runs for a 3-0 win.
Valdosta State had opportunities nearly every inning. VSU stranded eight runners on base and was able to get the lead hitter on base in each of the first five innings. Each time, Valdosta State was able to move the player to second, but never in for a score.
Alabama-Huntsville was able to notch eight hits on the team's way to three runs to force Valdosta State to drop to 57-8 on the season and out of the tournament.
