Seven Lady Blazers Honored for Work in the Classroom

Thompson named to GSC All-Academic Team

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Valdosta State saw six Lady Blazers named to the Gulf South Conference's winter Academic Honor Roll and one named to the GSC All-Academic team.

Michelle Thompson received the honor for the second time in her career. This year, Thompson was recognized on the first team for a 3.91 grade point average in finance during her junior year. She also did well on the court. She averaged 11 points per game and knocked down 58 three-pointers on the year. She was also tops in the nation in free throw percentage which is no surprise from someone who is at the top of her class.

Freshmen Amanda Haven, Courtney Mitchell, Lauren Maples, Maegan Czerepinski and Jana Luecken each were named to the GSC Academic Honor Roll. Luecken finished with an outstanding 4.0 GPA while the rest were above average as well.

In addition to the freshmen, Erin Keller also made the list. She earned a perfect 4.0 GPA, but while working on her graduate degree in educational leadership. She will continue the work as a graduate assistant coach under Head Coach Kiley Hill next season.
